A WILDLIFE volunteer is searching for the owner of a strange bird that is half-chicken and half-pigeon.

The flightless bird, believed to be a Banat, was found in Beckenham on January 11 but will be relocated permanently to a sanctuary in Kent on Saturday.

It was taken to veterinary nurse Lauren Smith, 23, from Mottingham, who independently runs Wildlife Lodge, a bird rescue service.

Miss Smith said: "He was handed in by a man who had to chase him down a street but we don't really know anymore than that.

"He must have an owner as he can't fly. At the moment he sleeps with my pigeons but behaves like a chicken."

Miss Smith runs an aviary for lost and sick birds and also fosters cats.

If you know the owner of the chicken-pigeon, or if you find an injured or sick bird, call Miss Smith on 07983 708 497.
