Four fire engines were despatched to the scene

A semi-detached house on Beckenham Road was left badly damaged after a fire tore through the property in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters, including crews from Beckenham, Woodside, Bromley and West Norwood, spent almost four hours trying to extinguish the blaze.

Despite their efforts, part of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire and the roof was gutted.

Firefighters were called at 4.25am and the fire was under control by 8am.
