Firefighters tackle Homesdale Road blaze

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are currently at the scene of a fire at a former gas holder site on Homesdale Road.

The brigade’s 999 control officers have taken around 60 calls to the fire since they were first called at 11.31am.

Fire crews from Bromley and Sidcup fire stations are at the scene.

Isabella Wood-Davis tweeted a video of the smoke from the fire rising from the site.

She said: “huge fire in Bromley - hope everyone’s ok!”

A 50 metre cordon has been put in place while firefighters tackle the fire and residents in the immediate area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke.Trains in the area are currently running as normal.

Southeastern tweeted “Ourselves and NetworkRail are monitoring the situation in Bromley, however trains are currently unaffected by this and are running normally through the area.”

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
