Orpington’s HMV store is set to close in the next two months after the company when into administration last month.
The shop, in Nugent Shopping Park, Cray Avenue, is one of 66 chosen for closure across the country resulting in more than 900 job losses in total.
Administrator Deloitte announced the closures this morning, stating those selected for closure had been identified as part of an ongoing review of all 220 stores in the UK.
Nick Edwards, of Deloitte, said: “This step has been taken in order to enhance the prospects of securing the business’ future as a going concern.
“We continue to receive strong support from staff and are extremely grateful to them for their commitment during an understandably difficult period.”
The owners of HMV Canada, Hilco, have bought the UK chain’s debt from lenders and could soon take full control of the company.
