TECHNOLOGY that can detect stolen iPods and mobile phones at the touch of a button is being used in the borough.

Bromley Police have introduced hand-held Apollo scanners to check barcodes against the National Property Register to see whether an item has been listed as stolen.

Bromley Borough Commander Charles Griggs said: "This operation is one of many throughout the year where we focus on tackling crime and disorder on public transport.
