The move would see the post office open for longer hours and seven days a week

Locals in Beckenham are being asked for their thoughts on moving the Crown post office in Beckenham to a WH Smith on the high street.

The move would see the post office on Rectory Road closed, but would also mean longer opening hours and a seven day week service.

Proposals have already been knocked by locals, following a recent protest on Saturday, and a successful online petition.

The six week consultation to move the service 0.2miles from its current location starts today (Wednesday, April 20).

Existing members of staff will have the option to transfer to the WH Smith branch.

The consultation is due to end on June 1.
