The iconic musician turns 69 today

Former Bromley resident turned Starman, David Bowie, celebrates his 69th birthday today, as well as the release of his latest album.

Bowie spent his early 20s in Beckenham, where he first penned songs including ‘Space Oddity’ and ‘Oh! You Pretty Things’.

Today also marks the release of his latest album, Blackstar, which is number 26 in a career spanning across 50 years.

During his time in Beckenham, Bowie met his first wife Angie, whom he married at Bromley Register Office in 1970.
