Glowing report for Bromley police custody conditions

PUBLISHED: 10:37 28 September 2012

An assessment of the treatment of those in custody at Bromley Police Station was positive, though there remains room for improvement.

Nick Hardwick, Chief Inspector of Prisons, and Dru Sharpling, HM Inspector of Constabulary, arrived unannounced to carry out the inspection.

The use of handcuffs and strip-searching was said to be proportionate and that physical conditions were good.

However, concerns were raised over problems with delays in accessing interpretation for non-English speaking detainees.
