Record GCSE success at Harris Academy Beckenham

Staff and students at Harris Academy Beckenham are celebrating today after receiving a record set of GCSE results.
Of the students collecting their results today, 74pc achieved at least five GCSEs including English and maths.
Under the new system, passes are marked on a scale of Grade 9 (equivalent to an A**) to Grade 4 (equivalent to a C).
81pc of students achieved at least a pass in maths and 88pc in English.
Students with English as an additional language did particularly well: 78pc achieved GCSEs in English and maths.
The school’s French, Spanish and geography departments saw 90pc of students achieve a Grade 4 or above in these subjects.
100pc of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in biology, physics and chemistry.

Executive principal Rebecca Hickey, said: “I want to thank and congratulate all our students, staff and parents for their hard work and determination in achieving today’s fantastic results.
“Despite tougher new exams, we have achieved even more highly than we did last year.
“Most of our students are continuing on to sixth form and these results lay the foundation for successful future studies.
“All of us who have taught and known them are looking forward to following their progress.“
