The event concluded a week of free activities at intu Bromley shopping centre

A professional cartoonist provided tips to youngsters on Saturday as they sketched their own comic strip at a Bromley shopping centre.

The event, which rounded off a week of free half-term activities when comic favourites Snoopy and Charlie Brown took over intu Bromley.

After face painting, bingo and friendship bracelet-making events, the week concluded with kids creating their own cartoon characters.

Professional cartoonist Richy K Chandler, who ran the session, said: “There was a nice crowd of kids and families there.

“I’ve been drawing comics all my life and went full time as a professional about three years ago when I was writing for Wallace and Gromit newspaper strip.

“I also work in schools, libraries, museums and festivals, passing on tips to young people interested in comics, but this was the first time I’ve done a shopping mall.

“It was a great day and everyone seemed to respond well.”
