The future of one of Bromley’s key sporting facilities used by legends like Steve Backley, Sally Gunnell and Adam Gemili has been secured for the next 10 years.

Norman Park Track Management, the company set up 20 years ago to run the track, in Hayes Lane, won a contract from Bromley Council to continue managing it for the next decade.

Peter Baigent, chairman of Norman Park Track Management, hailed it as “a victory for common sense” and a “recognition of the high standards” which have enabled the facility to be used by the major men’s and women’s leagues for their fixtures.

Mr Baigent also paid tribute to those who had gone to the trouble of writing to express their support for NPTM’s bid.

Over 20 glowing testimonials were received from clubs, schools, officials, leagues and individual users.
