A lecture delving into the human brain and human spirit was held on Tuesday.

Bromley High School alumni Dr Mary Baker held talks with University of Oxford professor, Sir Colin Blakemore to discuss his passion for neuroscience.

Joining the duo on stage was Terry Waite CBE, a hostage negotiator who himself spent five years as a captive in Beirut.

Much of his time was spent in darkness within solitary confinement.

Since then Mr Waite has established the charity Hostage UK in spite of his years of suffering.

Earlier in the day the charity worker met with students from the school.
