Garden furniture and plant pots need to be safely stowed this weekend to stop them becoming dangerous missiles in high winds.

As another Atlantic storm rolls in, firefighters are urging Bromley residents to ensure loose objects are secure to stop accidents, structural damage and injuries.

Gusts of up to 60mph are being forecast on Saturday, strong enough to bring down trees.

London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner Steve Hamm said firefighters will be working to ensure nothing is left in a “precarious position”.

He added: “We’re urging people to secure loose objects around their homes and to close their windows.

“Take extra care if you’re out and about or driving, as strong winds can knock things over and pick up flying debris.”
