A FAMILY run film company has scooped an award at a New York independent film festival.

Pie 'n' Mash Film, run by Bill Maloney and his family from Beckenham, won the Best International Feature at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF) for their film Lunatic.

Director Mr Maloney received his accolade in June at the Times Square Arts Centre for the film that starred Grant Davies from West Wickham and Clive Lewis from Bromley Hill with many scenes filmed in and around Beckenham, as reported in the Times.

The Maloneys, dubbed the 'larger Coppola family' filmed and edited Lunatic from their small ex-council flat to launch the film into the DVD market.

Now, a year on, Pie 'n' Mash Films have thundered ahead with a host of films and documentaries in post production.
