A CYCLE ride for all the family is taking place this month as part of a capital campaign to get people on their bikes.

Bromley Cyclists have organised the 'Free the Family' bike ride on Sunday, June 22 as part of Bike Week.

Father and son team Jonathan and Liam Burns from Penge have planned an 11-mile route called 'Bromley Parks and Ride' which will take cyclists through Priory Gardens Park in Orpington to Crystal Palace Park.

The unique route, which also visits Jubilee Country Park and Beckenham Place Park, is also being promoted as a part of Love Parks Week.

Mr Burns said: "The route shows off some of the most beautiful and relaxing areas of the borough."

Charles Potter, co-ordinator of Bromley Cyclists, said: "It's a ride for all ages, at a leisurely pace."

To take part, register at Priory Gardens Park, Orpington from 10am for a bike safety check in order to depart at 11am, aiming to reach Crystal Palace Park at 3pm. Escorted rides will go to Penge East or Bromley South stations as required. For more information, go to www.bromleycyclists.org.
