Singers from Eltham College’s junior and senior schools travelled to London on Monday to compete in the finals of a national choir competition.

Almost 300 choirs entered the National Schools Choir Competition, organised by Barnardo’s, with the Eltham College’s senior school chamber choir selected included in the final six.

However, it was the junoir school’s Grange Choir who came close to glory as they finished second from a total of 18 choirs in their category and were crowned runners-up.

Paul Henderson, headmaster at Eltham College, said: “To be selected for the finals was an impressive achievement in itself. Going on to be placed second nationally is tremendous and testimony to the boys’ hard work.”
