RESIDENTS and staff at a nursing home raised £1,000 on a 3km sponsored walk.

The walk on Monday raised funds for Mission Care's Willett House nursing home, in Chislehurst.

Residents, some in wheelchairs, set off with friends and at 2pm on a circular route beginning and ending on Kemnal Road.

They completed the walk in fewer than 50 minutes.

Manager Janet Chuttoo said: "As a charity, we benefit strongly from the generosity of our supporters and friends in raising funds.

"The walk was a fantastic illustration of the support of our friends at Willett House and a wonderful day out for our residents."

The money raised will be used to support the activities and events programme for residents at Willett House.
