An 80-year-old woman’s handbag was stolen from her car as she placed flowers on her husband’s grave at Beckenham Crematorium in Elmers End Road last week.

A spate of recent incidents has led police to remind people not to leave anything on display in parked vehicles.

A spokesman for Bromley Police said: “This despicable crime against an elderly lady has had a significant impact on the victim.

“We are urging people to take action to reduce their chances of becoming a victim of this type of crime and there are a number of steps that you can take to improve close down the opportunities for criminals to target you.

“The most commonly stolen items include laptops, handbags, mobile phones, tools and sat nav systems. Please take them with you when you leave your vehicle”.
