A drunk customer who threw a chair at staff in Orpington’s Nando’s restaurant before kicking a police officer in the head has been bailed.

Police were called to the chicken restaurant in High Street just before 9.20pm on Friday, but by the time they arrived, the suspect had left.

A spokesperson from Bromley police said: “Officers attended and with the assistance of London Borough of Bromley CCTV control room a 20-year-old intoxicated male from Orpington was located and arrested on suspicion of assault.

“He was taken to a south London police station. Sadly, whilst being booked into the custody suite he kicked a detention officer in the head.

“The officer did not require treatment and continued his tour of duty.

“The male has since been bailed to return to police on a date later this month. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Following the incident on Friday night, @MPSBromley tweeted to say the customer was “very drunk”, posting “#idiot”.
