A Croydon man who ran a cannabis factory from his home has been sentenced.

Sean Kavanagh, 38, was handed a 10 month prison term, suspended for two years, after he pleaded guilty to producing and possessing the class B drug with intent to supply at Croydon Crown Court on February 27.

He was arrested in June by officers out on patrol while driving in Bromley Road, Shortlands.

After smelling cannabis, the officers searching his vehicle and found a large amount of drugs hidden behind the panels in his van.

Kavanagh was then further arrested after a search of his home address revealed a cannabis factory containing 150 plants, along with growing material and a quantity of dried cannabis.

He denied the offences, but later changed his plea to guilty prior to the jury being sworn in. Kavanagh was also ordered by the court to carry out 100 hours unpaid community work.
