A drug dealer from Bromley was jailed for six years yesterday for his role in a multi-million-pound international drug smuggling ring.

Albanian national Besmir Kaja, 30, was part of a gang who smuggled heroin, cocaine and cannabis worth tens of millions of pounds into the UK.

He was one of seven men from Kent, Essex and Poland jailed for a total of 81 years at Southwark Crown Court last Friday.

Kaja, of Wharton Road, admitted possession of class A and class B drugs with intent to supply.

The sentences are the culmination of a police operation that started in May last year. Officers seized drugs worth millions of pounds and hundreds of thousands of pounds in cash as they swooped on the gang.

The men were smuggling the drugs into the country by hiding them in tyres underneath lorries, or in the middle of other goods. Kaja was then acting as a courier within the UK.
