VOLUNTEERS are needed for a drop in centre for socially isolated people.

Bromley Mind's Stepping Stones centre in Masons Hill, Bromley, trains and supports volunteers to befriend people with mental health problems.

They are now expanding their volunteer Peer Support programme in its Beckenham and Orpington centres.

One of the first volunteers trained, Graham White, said: "I wanted to contribute to the running of the centres as well as to push myself and keep busy. I've taken on responsibilities, which has really increased my confidence.

"Now I feel I can do things I would never have thought I could have done before. I have really enjoyed the training. Passing things like the Food Hygiene course, gives you a real sense of achievement."

The next six-week induction training course for volunteers is starting this month and in January.
