Dozens evacuated from Bromley tower block fire

The fire started on Tuesday evening
Dozens of people were evacuated from their homes after a fire broke out in an apartment on Tuesday night.
London Fire Brigade was called to Bonnington Tower on Turpington Lane after someone saw smoke rising from the bottom of the 11-storey tower block.
Crews were called to the scene just before 9pm and by the time they had arrived, one occupant had escaped out of a window.
A spokesperson from London Fire Brigade said: “We were called to a fire in a ground floor flat at 8.57pm on Tuesday evening.
“By the time we arrived, one woman had left the property via a window, while up to 60 occupants had been evacuated by police.
“A quarter of the four-room flat was damaged by the fire.
“There are no reports of any injuries.”
Five fire engines were sent to the scene, with the last call coming in at 10.32pm.
Crews are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, which is not thought to be suspicious.
