Delroy Grant’s trousers undone when arrested in Beckenham
The Old Bailey heard today how when the alleged Night Stalker was arrested in Beckenham, his trousers were undone and he looked ‘dishevelled’.
Detective Constable Andrew Stone described how he followed Delroy Grant’s Vauxhall Zafira around midnight between November 14 and 15 last year.
He was trailing another police vehicle which followed the people carrier in to Withham Road, Beckenham, and activated its lights and sirens to get Grant to stop.
The Zafira pulled over and the officers asked Grant to get out.
Mr Stone said: “He was wearing dark clothing, he was slightly dishevelled and his trousers were undone.
”It was as if he had been in a rush, they (his clothes) weren’t hanging on him properly.
“And, as I said, his trousers were undone. The button and zip were undone and they were slightly falling off within the seat.”
He initially gave the name Kelvin Grant, but the officers had already spotted two credit cards in the centre console of his vehicle which had a different name on.
Grant, of Brockley Mews, Brockley, denies a total of 29 charges - three rapes, one attempted rape, six indecent assaults, one sexual assault, 16 burglaries and two attempted burglaries. The trial continues.
The attacks took place across south-east London including Orpington and Beckenham spanning 19 years.
