A 24-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

William Mukoro, of Lushington Road, Catford, appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court last Thursday accused of causing the death of Nancy Cassell, 80, by dangerous driving in Southend Road, Beckenham.

Mrs Cassell died from multiple injuries on May 31 after she was hit by a silver Mercedes 220 which went through a fence and down a steep grass embankment.

It missed a tree and a lamppost by just a few inches and bent a metal banister out of shape before landing in the garden of a maisonette in Abbey Park.

Mukoro will stand trial at Croydon Crown Court on February 2 next year. He was granted unconditional bail.
