AMERICANS living in the UK who want to vote in the presidential and federal elections need to register by the end of this month.

Election day in America is November 4 when voters will decide whether Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain will become the 44th US president, succeeding George W Bush.

But Americans living in the UK must register beforehand or they will be unable to vote. Bromley resident and director of voluntary organisation, Americans Abroad, Thomas Conlan, said: "This year is easier than ever with a simple internet registration process."

"There are about a quarter-of-a-million Americans living in the UK and there are quite a few in Kent."
