Dead pet pooch found in Pool River under Sydenham bridge

PUBLISHED: 13:27 29 November 2013 | UPDATED: 13:27 29 November 2013

A Staffordshire Bull Terrier was found dead under a Sydenham bridge last week.

The RSPCA are appealing for information about the owner of the reddish brown dog, which was found in the Pool River, near Sainsbury’s, on Friday, November 22.

The path is popular with dog walkers, and the RSPCA is hopeful that someone may have seen who dumped the pet there.

The fully-grown male was found with no visible sign of injuries and was unneutered, with no microchip.

RSPCA inspector, Natasha Wallis, said: “From the state of the body we believe the dog died sometime between the previous evening and 0930 that morning when our caller found it.

“The river is not deep enough at this time of year for the dog to have drowned.”

Anyone with any information should contact Natasha on 0300 123 8018. All calls are treated in confidence.
