A MAN has been jailed for six months after an RSPCA officer found a dead dog and 10 dead chickens at his house.

Stuart Tate of Ethelbert Road, Orpington appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court last Thursday accused of causing unnecessary suffering to animals.

The court hear how RSPCA inspector Sonya Gray found the dead chickens and a dead Jack Russell in his garden as well as seven live dogs and chickens living in appalling conditions.

Inspector Gray said: "The garden was filthy and dogs were all running loose in the street at risk of getting run over. The chickens were emaciated."

Tate was also banned for life from keeping animals.
