A cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after he sustained head injuries when his bike was involved in a collision with a stationary car in Beckenham.

The 42-year-old was taken to King’s College Hospital in Denmark Hill after the accident at Upper Elmers End Road, in Beckenham, between the junctions with Stanhope Grove and Altyre Way at 6.10pm on Saturday (Jan 7).

His condition was described as “critical” today.

In a separate incident a woman had to be cut from a car by firefighters and was taken to King’s College Hospital, suffering from spinal injuries after the car was in collision with a transit van at Tweedy Road in Bromley.

A female car passenger was taken to Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington suffering from a shoulder injury after the accident at about 1.49pm on Sunday.

The van driver did not need to go to hospital.
