The void was discovered after a water main burst along the road

Motorists using Cudham Lane North through the hamlet of Hazelwood near Biggin Hill are expected to be diverted from the road until the weekend.

A burst water main has created a void beneath the road’s surface, making it unsafe for vehicles.

Thames Water has been notified to send engineers and start repairs on the water main, but the road is not expected to reopen for two to three days.

As of Tuesday, the road is closed between the junction with Hazelwood Road and the northern arm of Snag Lane, near the A21.

A diversion has been put in place via the following route: A21 Farnborough Way, Farnborough Hill, Shire Lane, New Road Hill, Rookery Road, Downe High Street, Luxted Road, Single Street, Berrys Hill and Church Hill.
