FANS of a beleaguered football club are coming together with their club to sponsor an Easter Monday clash.

Crystal Palace fans are being asked to help the club by donating £25 each to fund the match against Championship rivals Preston North End.

The club has teamed up with the Supporters Trust in an attempt to raise £50,000 for the match day on April 5 which coincides with their Easter family day.

The Eagles have been struggling with their finances after going into administration in January, owing

ex-chairman Simon Jordan some £20million.

Alan Lewis, Crystal Palace FC Supporters' Trust board member, said: "We want to show potential buyers that the supporters can work together with the club and be a powerful force."

The trust has already given £3,000 to help kick-start the sponsorship fund.

As part of the plan, the supporters' trust logo will appear on the front of the players' kits for the match, and each sponsor will have the chance to win one of the special shirts after the match.

Crystal Palace FC chief executive Phil Alexander said: "This project enables supporters old and new, young and old, to help in a very tangible way."

Brendan Guilfoyle, the Administrator of Crystal Palace FC added: "I have been hugely impressed by the passion of Palace fans and I know this wonderful initiative will be a huge success.
