A 21-year-old North American Bald Eagle is set to be unveiled as the official live mascot for Crystal Palace Football Club.

Kayla, who is kept at Eagle Heights Wildlife Park in Eynsford, will be officially unveiled next Tuesday at the game against Portsmouth at Selhurst Park.

The eagle, which has a two metre wingspan, first appeared at the ground for the final game of the season against West Brom where she flew up and down the ground as Crystal Palace, nicknamed the Eagles, stepped out onto the pitch.

Kayla’s handler, Christopher Belsey, from Eagle Heights, said: “As soon as we got the call from the club we were more than willing to come down to Selhurst Park and help the Eagles.”
