Budding actors at a Bromley stage school received a visit from Coronation Street actress Patti Clare last week.

Patti, who plays nosey Mary Taylor on the Manchester cobbles, was the guest of honour at Spotlights’ Got Talent summer school, in Hawes Lane, West Wickham.

She answered the students’ questions and shared stories of her life on the set of one of the nation’s best loved soaps.

She said: “Sometimes when I’m doing a scene with Norris and Rita in the Rovers Return I have to pinch myself as it feels like a dream.”

The visit went down well with students, including 10-year-old Maddy Freestone, who said meeting Patti had encouraged her to go for more auditions.

Co-director of Spotlights Theatre School, Faye Willingale, said : “This is a fantastic opportunity for all our students whether their dream is to be the next soap star or not.

“Meeting Patti has boosted their confidence and further developed their training in performing arts and audition technique.”
