Concerns that Biggin Hill fire station will close

Biggin Hill Fire Station could close after it was revealed it is the quietest in London with an average of 110 calls a year.
London Mayor Boris Johnson wants the Brigade to make £65m cuts over the next two years.
Bromley and Bexley London Assembly member James Cleverly presented the Assembly with a list of incidents for all London stations between 2009/10 and 2011/12 – and Biggin Hill was at the bottom.
Figures also included response times, which saw Bromley rank as one of the slowest. However, it is the largest borough in London.
Biggin Hill Residents’ Association chairman, David Haslam, said: “It would make sense to close Biggin Hill. It is concerning as I don’t know how they would achieve a quick response time if they came from Orpington, Bromley or Croydon.”
