Gold medal winning hurdler, Andy Turner, visited Bromley students last week to launch an athletics programme at the Kingswood Centre.

The former Commonwealth and European 110m champion spoke to youngsters at the site, in Hayes Lane, about what it takes to become a professional athlete, as well as the opportunities that a successful track career can bring.

Met-Track, a school-based athletics programme, gives pupils the chance to be coached by top athletes and provides free, weekly coaching sessions in schools.

Pc Bruce Anton, of Bromley’s Youth Partnership Unite, said: “Met-Track attempts to provide all youngsters with the opportunity to receive international-class sports coaching and having an inspirational Commonwealth Games and European Championship gold medallist present really thrilled and inspired everyone involved.”
