A student from Chislehurst has been awarded for his achievements in academics at a ceremony in London.

Thomas Donovan, 18, won the Progression and Achievement in Business award at the event at DLD College London in Westminster.

The year 12 sociology, geography, and business studies student received a round of applause from guests, including Baroness Perry of Southwark, as he went up to collect his award.

Deputy principal for academics, Marie-Dominique Reza, said: “We must recognise the effort, progress and achievement of our students. It isn’t just about what they have learned in terms of their subjects but also in themselves. Some have become more confident, independent, and resillient and they are now ready to go to university.

“Thomas is an excellent student who deserved recognition for all his hard work this year.”

Lady Perry said: “Congratulations to the students.”

Visitors and students also enjoyed performances the DLD band, a ukulele group, and singers and musicians.
