A burglar who stole an iPhone from a Chislehurst home has been jailed for six years after officers tracked the device using an app and uncovered his fingerprints.

Dean Martin Spence, 44, of Greenwich, pled not guilty but was convicted of burglary after a two day trial at Croydon Crown Court.

Det Con Insp Andy Furphy, of Bromley police, said: “This was a fantastic piece of policing using the very latest technology, which was a huge help in tracking down the stolen property and ultimately convicting Spence.

“I recommend people take steps to protect and secure their property, and tracking applications can play a part in this.”
