A new chinese language school held its opening ceremony this weekend.

The ceremony took place at Warren Road Primary School, Orpington, on Saturday.

Those who attended included the Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Julian Bennington, and Councilor Hui Li, Head of Overseas’ Chinese Affairs from the Chinese Embassy in the UK.

The Orpington Chinese Language School will teach Mandarin to students from different age groups on Sauturdays.

It will initially open to Chinese speaking families in the Autumn, before opening up to non-Chinese speaking children in Spring 2015.

Gigi Chen MBA, Headteacher of Orpington Chinese Language School, hopes the school will provide the opportunity to preserve the Chinese culture and language and bring the best opportunities to the next generation.

The new school has the support of more than 100 local Chinese families.
