TWO new cycling clubs for children aged eight to 14 have been launched in the borough.

They are linked with new cycling initiatives in several schools, forming the Bromley Go-Ride Project, the aim of which is to make organised cycling accessible to all the borough's children.

Each of the two new community clubs, which are open to any child, meet on Saturdays during school terms at Alexandra Junior School, Penge, and Pickhurst Junior School, Hayes.

Sessions include skills training and introduction to the many types of cycling, for example, road, mountain and track, with an emphasis on fun.

The project is the initiative of Bromley Cyclists, a local branch of the London Cycling Campaign. Places are available in both clubs but booking is essential.

For Penge, contact Winnie Farquharson on 07711 015102 and for Hayes contact Martin Baker on 07972 434472.
