Unico held its public launch yesterday (Monday) morning

Chelsea stars from the past twenty years attended the public launch of one of their team-mate’s own gelato ice cream stores.

Co-owner Gianfranco Zola attended the public launch of the Italian style ice cream shop in Bromley High Street.

Among the packed-out crowd was former Champions League-winning Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo as well as former players Andriy Shevcenko and Dennis Wise.

Mr Zola, who lives locally, said: “My favourite flavour is Magic Box, a pine nut custard gelato with whole toasted pine nuts.”

“We have a passion for quality, and our main purpose at Unico is to deliver quality gelato and coffee that we know people will love, and will want to share with their family and friends.”

The former Chelsea striker and West Ham manager co-founded the store with his friends Elena Manfroni and Leonardo Ragazzi.

Ms Manfroni said: ““Gianfranco, Leonardo and I believe that Unico is bringing a new way to experience authentic Italian gelato to the UK.

“We were thrilled to welcome so many new customers to Unico for our official launch and we’re looking forward to becoming a firm favourite with South London food lovers.”
