St Christopher’s Hospice has 19 shops across south east London

A hospice serving thousands of people across south east London has been rewarded for its fundraising.

St Christopher’s Hospice, based in Sydenham and Orpington, has a total of 19 charity shops, which together raised more than £1million profit between 2015 and 2016.

The hard work was rewarded at the Hospice UK awards as staff and volunteers picked up the Retail Team of the Year awardin Warwickshire last month.

Head of retail for the hospice, which was founded in 1967, David White, said: “Over the last two years our staff and volunteers have really adapted and embraced the changes that were needed to really deliver for our customers across south east London.

“Working smarter, not harder, has given us more time for training volunteers and staff, allowing growth within the team and encouraging stability.

“St Christopher’s shops are really supportive and enjoyable places to work. We’re always looking for volunteers, so please get in touch if you’d like to join our winning team.”
