Awarded by international animal charity Viva!
Animal lover Jan Yarker has been presented with an award by international animal welfare organisation ‘Vegetarians International Voice for Animals’ (Viva!).
The charity, who held a Thames river cruise dinner to celebrate their 20th anniversary last month presented the Bromley resident Ms Yarker an award for outstanding dedication and commitment for her work as a Viva! campaigner.
Ms Yarker is the founder of Bromley based animal welfare group Passive Pressure.
She said: “I feel extremely honoured to have won this award. It’s always been a pleasure to represent Viva! and it was being a Viva! member that gave me the inspiration to form Passive Pressure.
“I see this world as a dark place for the animals, humans and the planet herself who suffer so much at the hands of man.
“Viva! Is a powerful beacon of light which pierces through the darkness and throws that light on to the cruelty which goes on behind the closed doors of slaughter houses, factory farms and much, much more.”
Viva! have said that they give these awards to people ‘who have turned words into action and represented Viva! in exceptional ways on a local level’.
Passive Pressure is an independent group which represents national and international animal welfare organisations and supports smaller local rescue groups.
They work in a passive manner to raise awareness of animal welfare issues, aiming to inform and raise the awareness of how animal cruelty impacts on everyday issues for the consumer.
