Nugent Shopping Centre recently treated members of the Bromley Childhood Cancer Support Group to a VIP morning.

On the weekend of November 10/11, the families were able to enjoy a storytelling sesison at Waterstones, cuddles with the rabbits at Pets at Home and a slime-making workshop at Hobbycraft.

Invited by Nugent Shopping Park’s centre manager, Tina Powley, the group of 12 families also enjoyed a short walk to explore the nearby conservation area to learn about local history.

The Bromley Childhood Cancer Support Group, funded by The Chartwell Cancer Trust, offers support to children undergoing treatment for cancer or leukaemia and their families.

Tina Powley, centre manager at Nugent Shopping Park, said: “The Chartwell Cancer Trust is a wonderful charity and it was really great to meet some of the local families it supports.

“We hope everyone who came along enjoyed the day as much as we did. I’d like to say a big thank you to the retailers that got involved and helped to make it memorable.”

Michelle Simpson, Support Group Co-ordinator at The Chartwell Cancer Trust, said: “Our Bromley Childhood Cancer Support Group offers a lifeline to local families that have a child suffering with cancer or leukaemia. We provide support to the child, their siblings and parents during a very difficult time, while giving them the opportunity to spend some quality time together as a family. We’re very grateful to Tina and the team at Nugent Shopping Park for organising such a special day.”
