Cashier threatened at gunpoint as Beckenham bank is robbed

A cashier was threatened with a handgun during a Beckenham bank robbery yesterday morning.

Police were called to Lloyds Bank, in Beckenham High Street, at 9.20am after an armed man entered the bank and stole a quantity of cash.

The suspect escaped the scene on a motorbike driven by a second man, riding the wrong way along Church Avenue - a one way street.

Ambulance crews treated two women, in their 40s, for shock at the scene.

Officers from Flying Squad are continuing to investigate the robbery.
