A children’s community club have fundraised £1,000 for a new bench in Coney Hall Recreations Ground.

The 2nd Coney Hall Brownies heard from the chair of Friends of Coney that the park needed a bench for the tennis courts. The girls decided they would a bench to commemorate the club’s 60th anniversary in June.

The girls hosted a pancake evening, they were sponsored by parents to complete jobs at home, completed a number of raffles and spent hours packing bags in Marks and Spencers.

A representative for the 2nd Coney Hall Brownies, said: “Our Brown Owl of 2nd Coney Hall Brownies is brilliant, she always encourages us to think of new ideas for our weekly meetings.

“We grow and plant flowers for the Coney Hall Recreation Ground’s flower beds, so it was suggested that we pay for a nice bench with a plaque on it.

“We are really proud and very pleased that we have managed to pay for the bench that we hope lots of people will enjoy for years to come.”
