A Bromley couple agonisinly missed out on being named the world’s strongest couple in a record-breaking attempt aired on Blue Peter.

Chris Pitman and Lisa Dennis, who own Virtue TaeKwon-Do which runs classes in locations throughout Bromley, had the task of smashing 1,000 roof tiles each with their bare hands at Ravenswood School in Oakley Road.

Chris did beat the individual record of 54.25 seconds set by Chris Byrd in 2001, while the mark stands at 90 seconds for women.

While Chris smashed the tiles in 52 seconds, Lisa was 16 seconds outside her target as the couple missed out on the record for the second time this year.

The tiles were arranged in 100 piles of 10 for Chris while was Lisa confronted with stacks of eight.

The attempt was aired on the children’s television programme yesterday and an official adjudicator from Guiness World Records attended.
