The ‘Snow Friends’ help clear snow over the colder months
Bromley Council is supporting residents to join a local group to help support one another in snowy weather.
The ‘Snow Friends’ groups across the borough use council provided equipment to deal with snow that falls on routes the council do not usually deal with.
Council advice is telling the groups to get to potential snowfall before it turns to ice and becomes more hazardous to Bromley people.
Bromley’s gritters currently grit more than half of the roads in the borough when temperatures are predicted to be freezing.
Councillor Colin Smith said: “Whilst we haven’t seen snow for a few years now and from an operational point of view are hoping that we don’t see any this winter either, at this time of year our minds obviously turn to preparing as best we can for the unpredictability of the season.
“With the council’s gritting crews continuing to attend all key arterial routes across the Borough, Bromley’s outstanding existing Snow Friends and Snow Friends Groups, already play crucial roles in their roads in extreme weather.”
