Bromley seal impressive win over Dartford

Bromley earned a creditable 1-0 home win over Conference Premier neighbours Dartford on Saturday (July 20).

Jay May scored the only goal of the game in the second-half. Brendan Kiernan crosses the ball into the penalty area, May’s attempted flick rebounded back to him off a defender and he finished past Darts keeper Alan Julian at the second attempt.

The visitors had started the game in lively fashion with Lee Burns, Ryan Hayes and Lee Noble all squandering early chances at Hayes Lane.

Bromley had their first chance when Elliot Buchanen fired over, before Danny Waldren went close with a free-kick.

The home side were more of a threat after the break as manager Mark Goldberg made a raft of changes.

One of them, Warren McBean, made an instant impact as he set up an opportunity for Steve Smith before going close himself.

The Ravens were not to be denied though thanks to May’s composed finish, which should give them confidence for the rest of their pre-season campaign.

Bromley were due to face a Millwall XI on Tuesday night (July 23) before welcoming local rivals Welling United to Hayes Lane on Saturday (July 27).
