A new deputy borough commander has been appointed.

Det Supt Jo Oakley joined the Met in 1990 and was posted to Lambeth borough as a constable, before joining the CID.

She was promoted to detective sergeant in 1997 and joined Southwark borough, where she worked with Bromley’s borough commander Charles Griggs, who announced last week that he is returning to Southwark.

Jo has since worked with the drugs squad, traffic and the post-Notting Hill Carnival investigation team.

She spent eight years as a chief inspector before being promoted to superintendent in July 2009.

Most recently Jo was the acting borough commander at Croydon, before being attached to Operation Withern, set up to investigate the London riots. She started work on Monday.
