A Bromley police officer has been injured by a stolen vehicle.

A female officer in her 40s was taken to a south London hospital where she remains with a head injury, which is not believed to be life threatening at this time.

Officers were flagged down in Green Lane, Chislehurst at around noon today by a delivery driver who had his van stolen while making a delivery.

The delivery driver had left his keys in the ignition of the van prior to being stolen.

They took the victim on a drive around of the area to see whether they could trace the van and located it in Bull Lane.

They pulled over and as one of them got out of the passenger side of the car the stolen vehicle drove off, mounting the pavement, knocking over a couple of roadside bollards and striking the door of the police car, which then struck the officer in the head.

The suspect later abandoned the vehicle in Scadbury Woods.

There have been no arrests made and enquiries are continuing.
